Honda Reaches 100,000-unit Milestone in Indiana With Production of Civic at HMIN

Associates at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN) today produced the 100,000th Civic in Indiana. HMIN began production* on October 9, 2008.

"This milestone is based on the commitment our Honda associates in Indiana make every day to build products of the highest quality for our customers," said Rick Schostek, vice president of HMIN. "This is an important achievement for our entire team."

The Civic was the sixth best selling vehicle in the U.S. in January 2010, and was up 12.1 percent in sales for the month over last year.

Currently, Honda operates one shift with approximately 1,000 associates at the Greensburg plant, producing the popular and fuel-efficient Honda Civic Sedan and Honda Civic GX, the only natural gas vehicle built in America. Engines for the Civic Sedan are built by associates at HondaĆ¢€™s engine plant in nearby Anna, Ohio.

HMIN is Honda's seventh auto assembly plant in North America and one of 14 major Honda manufacturing facilities in North America, with two more currently under construction in North Carolina.

Toyota to suspend production of hybrids

Struggle with some of the largest vehicle recalls ever because of security problems in its vehicles, Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Wednesday that the production of its hybrid models from Toyota and Toyota HS250h Sai may be suspended this weekend. The news came just a day after Toyota Motor of many of its hybrid vehicles, including announced Toyota Prius, Toyota and Toyota HS250h Sai recall.

Toyota Motors is strengthening its global recall of 400,000 units from the previously announced 3 lakh units of the hybrid models, including many of the Toyota Prius models. Company leverages the production end of this week to 20 February, when a statement by the spokesman of the company. The high intensity of these safety issues forced Toyota Motor to around 8.7 million vehicles worldwide, the highest ever by a car the company points out, repaired.

The spokesman of the company, how companies decide the timetable for the changes that are made in these hybrid models, will decide it on the resumption of production. However, Toyota dealers in Japan began the process of defining software problems in society than the sale of hybrid-model Toyota Prius.

On the other hand Toyota in India has started with the preparations for the launch of its India-based model sedan, Toyota Etios. The production of the Toyota Etios model is started from December 2010 and the model is expected to be launched at the end of the first quarter of next year. The company initially the sedan will be launched as the Toyota Etios and after an analysis of the response of the Indian buyers, the hatchback version will be rolled out.
